Hey There!

If you were to die today, do you think you'd go to Heaven? Why or why not? Most people I ask this question to typically respond with a "Yes, I'll go to Heaven because I'm good and do good things." They think they'll go to Heaven because they believe their good deeds somehow earn their way in. I used to think this and it drove me crazy wondering, "Am I doing enough? What else should I do?" Thankfully, the Gospel has nothing to do with you or your actions or your behavior. Entering Heaven has absolutely nothing to do with you!!

 

The truth is, the very moment you believe in Jesus and everything He did for you, is the very moment you become righteous! The minute you believe Jesus died on the cross for all of your lying, cheating, stealing, etc. is the same minute God, the Father now sees you as righteous. God sees you as righteous because He looks at you through Jesus, how He took your place on the cross. Jesus took what you deserve on Himself so you could be friends with God again, no longer separated from Him. It's Jesus' blood that cleanses you and covers all of your junk.

 

Because of the righteous identity you receive from Jesus, God now welcomes you into His Kingdom with open arms. You no longer have to worry about your good deeds or if you're going to church enough or reading the Bible enough (even though these are important) but you can live freely knowing your spot is secured because God's Son took your place and died for you.
