Hey There!
Many people have an idea of what the Gospel is, but they don’t fully understand it. It wasn’t until years after becoming a believer that I heard the Gospel in a simple, profound way. Finally, everything clicked.
The Gospel
If you were to die today, do you think you’d go to Heaven? Why or why not?

Most people I ask this question to respond with something like, “Yes, I’ll go to Heaven because I’m a good person and I try to do good things.” There’s this common belief that our goodness somehow earns us a place in Heaven. I used to think this way too and it was exhausting. I was constantly asking myself, "Am I doing enough? What else should I be doing?"

The freeing truth of the Gospel is that your place in Heaven and your relationship with God are not based on your performance!! Getting into Heaven isn’t about how well you behave, how often you get it right, or how hard you try. From the beginning, when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, sin entered the world which separated humanity from Him. Because God is holy and perfect, our brokenness made it impossible for us to restore that relationship on our own. But, because of the infinite love God has for His creation, He sent His Son, Jesus, to make a way. Through Jesus' death on the cross, He took the full weight of our sin - past, present, and future on Him. He became the perfect sacrifice, paying the price we could never pay ourselves.

The moment you believe in Jesus and what He's done for you is the same moment you are made righteous - not because of your efforts, but because of His! God no longer sees you through your failures or your past, but He sees you through Jesus. Jesus took your place so you could be restored into a relationship with the Father. His sacrifice covers your sin, cleanses your life, and makes you new.

Because of the righteous identity you receive through Jesus, God welcomes you into His Kingdom with open arms. You no longer have to live in fear, wondering if you’ve done enough, gone to church enough, or read the Bible enough. These things are important, but they are not what secures your place in Heaven or your relationship with God. Your security rests in the fact that Jesus took your place on the Cross.
